Jenny Hoople has been making jewelry for approximately seven months. A few years back she attempted making a necklace with job's tears that she grew in her backyard but it did not pan out so well. This past July, Jenny found herself in a craft store. While there, she bought a few items that would go well with her job's tears and from which she could make a necklace. Jenny made a necklace and her mom liked it so much she asked her to make one for her. Jenny made her mom a necklace and many more with her left over materials. When she used up her materials, she went and bought more and from there, Jenny couldn't stop. Shortly after coming up with several designs, she started selling her necklaces.
Jenny use knotted silk to string her necklaces because she like its history and finds it most romantic. She uses natural materials such as stone, bone, wood, shell and silk because "even when altered by human hands and arranged and strung by them, the beauty of the processes that formed them breaks through and dazzles me."
In addition to Etsy, Jenny's work is available at several consignment shops - Poppy Gallery in Columbia, Missouri; Project M boutique in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (opening March 1st) and The Hive Creations on the Anna Maria Islands in Florida. Jenny can also be found on twitter, facebook, myspace and Indiepublic. You can also read more about her and her work on her blog.
